Rome's umbrella pines have one job: hold a flat, wide crown high on a bare trunk, so the silhouette reads the same from any angle — a shape so consistent it's basically a civic emblem. Here it doubles itself before you even look up: the tree's shadow falls whole across a clipped boxwood maze, umbrella-shaped even in outline, a second pine drawn in shade over a garden that was already all pattern.
