# The building keeps its best room for itself

From the street this is just another plain facade — but turn a corner into the courtyard and the building opens inward instead, dozens of identical shuttered windows stacked in perfect rows, framing nothing but each other until the sky finally shows up as one more window at the top. Rome's grandest views aren't always outward. Sometimes the good light is kept for whoever already lives there. RR
